jan 21, 1989 - End of 80's: Black Friday is rebranded and becomes nationally recognized.
Description:
It was during this period of time that the widely popular origins myth was created by retailers to remove the negative connotation of Black Friday and make it positive. The myth was that the day after Thanksgiving was named Black Friday because retailers went from the red marker of deficit to the black marker of profits, or more simply put is that Black Friday was traditionally when companies turned their first profits of the year.
