Description:
A special tax was put on all Chinese Miners in California, which made them pay the government $3 a month(this was about half of what they usually made in a month). If they couldn't or wouldn't pay the taxes, they were sometimes kicked off of the minefields, or even killed. Also, fake tax collectors came and made the Chinese believe they were real ones and took advantage of them.Added to timeline:
