Babylonian invaders captured Judah, destroyed Solomon’s Temple in Jerusalem and held over 10,000 Jewish community leaders captive as prisoners. They sent te prisoners into exile in Babylon, where they stayed until Cyrus the Great of Persia set the free after defeating the Babylonians in conquest.
