Stalin had put a blockade on Berlin. He had stopped all highway, railway, and waterway traffic from West Germany to West Berlin. Berlin was basically left with no choice to fall to the communist, until the US arrived. For almost a year, The United States and Britain supplied West Berlin through a massive airlift. Food, fuel. medical supplies, clothing, and toys. This had painted the picture that the US was great, while the Soviet Union was failing to keep it together.
