Description:

On Dr. Seuss' birthday, March 2nd of my third grade school-year, the boy I had a crush on made a joke to one of the most popular girls at the Clapp-Goodyear Elementary School. I was wearing a striped red and white hat, like the cat in the hat, walking to throw out the scraps from the Seuss themed craft we just made. He pointed at me and said, "Look! It's FAT in the hat!". That same boy who I spent endless hours gushing about during sleepovers with my friends went on to make fat-jokes for the next 2 years. I stopped liking him. I stopped liking myself.
