mar 12, 1596 - Council Ban Theatre

Description:

In December 1574 the Council of London banned plays within the city limits and in 1596 went further by forcing all theatres within the city limits to close and move south of the River Thames. All theatres were also closed in 1593, 1603 and 1608 because of the fear that the large crowds would help spread the bubonic plague.
