jul 29, 1588 - Armada Spotted
Description:
The Spanish armada left from Corunna in May but ran in to storms off the coast of Portugal and had to return for repairs.
They left again and their fleet of 151 ships (7000 sailors, 34000 soldiers and 180 priests and monks) were spotted off the coast of Cornwall.
They sailed in a crescent formation and so they were mostly able to evade the English navy losing only 3 ships in skirmishes.
