aug 14, 1831 - Nat Turner's Revolt
Description:
He led the only effective slave rebellion in U.S. history. Believed that God told him to revolt and set his people free. He killed his owners, and then gathered a group of around 75 blacks and murdered 60 more in 2 days. They were ultimately all captured and killed. But his actions sent fear in the slave owners throughout the South. May not have been a good thing because this made them enforce stricter slave codes, such as limit the education for slaves.
