jan 1, 1876 - The
Intercontinental
Railway
Description:
Finished in 1876, it was Canada’s first major railway connecting the maritimes to Ontario and Quebec, initially it boosted trade through those areas. But because of the placement of where the railway was, towns that were not within the direct path of the railway did not become as economically prosperous.
