One of the earliest teams to be established, they would not have been called The “Pride of Portree” when they were founded because Portree did not exist until hundreds of years later. The original name of the team is not known.

The team comes from the Isle of Skye, where it was founded in 1292. The ‘Prides’, as they are known to their fans, wear deep-purple robes with a gold star on the chest.
