12h 19min, jun 4, 1942 y - Battle of Midway
Description:
In mid-1942, 6 months after the bombings of Pearl Harbor, the Japanese attempted to attack the American-held island of Midway in the Pacific Ocean with the hopes of demolishing what remained of the American fleet in the Pacific. Unfortunately for the Japanese, American intelligence intercepted Japanese transmissions, and were able to plan in advance for the attack, enabling them to swiftly defeat the attacking Japanese fleet. This defeat did huge damage to the Japanese fleet and took away their advantage on the open seas.
