After a dead-end partnership with phone maker Motorola Inc; Apple designed a model itself, the iPhone, which it released in 2007. The user-friendly design proven spectacularly popular, and by the end of the decade more than 17 million had been sold. This was extremely important for the decade because this was a HUGE step up in technology and helped form the decade and start to develop a new one.
