jan 1, 1896 - The First Car 1896 Henry Ford developed the first automobile. It was ethanol powered, and was actually called a "Quadracycle". It had a steering rod, not a wheel. This innovation lead to the development of cars around the world. Something so rare and new became a normal part of life.
