Description:
A group of Catholics led by Catesby tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament in session. Despite being reported by Lord Monteagle, soldiers did not inspect the underground cellars until the night before the plot would go ahead. The plot failed, and the plotters were publicly executed.It is suspected that the plot may have been a conspiracy of the government to show the people that James was willing to punish Catholics.
