Terrorists hijack four American airliners. Both towers of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon are hit, and the fourth plane crashes in a field south of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This was extremely important because it was a big message that the U.S. needed to majorly increase their security so nothing like this would happen again.
