jan 27, 1948 - IBM finished the SSEC (Selective Sequence Electronic Calculator).
It was the first computer to modify a stored program.
About 1300 vacuum tubes were used to construct the arithmetic
unit and eight very high-speed registers, while 23000 relays were
used in the control structure and 150 registers of slower memory.
