jan 11, 1829 - The Disaperance of the Beothuk 1829
Description:
The Beothuk were a Newfoundland tribe who lived a hunter gatherer lifestyle. Its estimated that there was only around 1000 to 2000 of them at any given time but there is good evidence that the number was closer to 500 to 700. As they were forced to move to inland Nefoundland the Beothuk were forced to give up some of their food sources that they heavily relied on which were salmon and seals leaving them only with Caribou to eat. As the caribou was their only food source they hunted them to extinction on the island and after the caribou was gone they eventually starved to death.
I rate this as a -3
