jan 1, 1834 - Lowell Mill Strike

Description:

Lowell textile factory workers go on strike when mill owners cut wages by 15% in response to a severe economic depression. The strike fails within days, but it set an important precedent. Later in 1836, workers successfully resisted a proposed rent hike by mill owners in response to the depression.
