may 1, 1619 - Jamestown Craftsman Strike
Description:
Polish Craftsmen in the Jamestown colony strike because they were not allowed to vote in the colony's first election on the grounds that weren't English in origin. Due to the importance of the goods the workers made to the colony's economy, colony leaders succumbed to their pressure and gave them full voting rights. It is the first documented strike in American history. (Change: strikes are brough to America)
