The Pilot of the A-6E, Lieutenant Mark A. Lange, ejected himself too late and was killed when his parachute failed to open properly while his Bombardier/Navigator, Lt. Bobby Goodman managed to bail out successfully and was taken prisoner by Syrian troops and Lebanese civilians;[64][65] their downed plane crashed near the town of Kafr Silwan, located in the mountains of the Syrian-controlled portion of the Matn District.
