Description:

This was Franklin D. Roosevelt’s executive order that established the Office of Scientific Research and Development, which majorly assisted in the progress and success of the Manhattan Project (project to construct an atomic bomb, led by Robert Oppenheimer). FDR asserted presidential authority, and its effects can still be felt today via the technology that was developed as a result of the OSRD.
