may 24, 1924 - Johnson-Reed Act is Passed
Description:
The law supplanted earlier acts to effectively ban all immigration from Asia and set a total immigration quota of 165,000 for countries outside the Western Hemisphere. It also provided funding and and an enforcement mechanism to carry out the bans on immigration, in that courts could deport immigrants when the quotas were exceeded. (Continuity: anti immigration laws directed at Asians)
