jan 1, 1874 - 1874 - The Supreme Court case Minor v Happersett found that the equal protection clause of the Fourteenth Amendment did not extend to women. As a result, the fight for suffrage and equal rights continued. This interpretation of the Fourteenth Amendment would eventually be reversed.
