Description:

On June 7, 1892, Homer Plessy was arrested for sitting in the white section car of the East Louisiana railroad. The case went all the way to the United States Supreme court. Plessy's Lawyer argued that the separate car act violated the thirteenth and fourteenth amendment. Then on May 18, 1896, the U.S supreme court established the "separate but equal doctrine", stating that the leagal segragation does not violate the equal protection clause of the 14th amendment.
