dec 30, 1979 - Social Beliefs
Description:
Over the years, the social views of Great Britain have changed in significant ways. Since Great Britain was founded on a very fortified religious standing things like abortion, homosexuality and other social norms. The view of abortion was very ill-put until 1967 when the government of England enacted the Abortion Act of 1967. Abortion is acceptable through certain circumstances and medical officials can give the “green light” if the abortion cause falls within these circumstances. In Great Britain, homosexuality was deeply looked down upon and considered very illegal. This again is due to the strong religious background that the nation has. It was also legalized in 1967 under the Sexual Offences Act which decriminalized homosexual acts in private, but they must be the age of 21. In present day, the United Kingdom no longer views the LGBTQ community as they once did. Many members of the community influenced the fashion world of the U.K. The most recent social issue being sorted out within the U.K. is the decriminalization of Marijuana. Sources stated that there is a possible chance that it could be legalized within the net year or so. So, in many ways, the U.K. has become more of a free-idea and culture nation which is shown by the different types of people that live within the country and the different religions within the country.
