Description:

Marius runs for consul against Metellus' orders and was elected. The Senate attempted to give Metellus back the appointment in Numidia, but was overruled by the Plebeian assembly. Marius formed a volunteer army to defeat Jugurtha, rewarding them with lands won in Numidia. Marius held the consulship six times in a row from 107 to 100.
