The long march was the communists who escaped the purge of 1927 fled to jiangxi province in southeastern china. The communists in china 6,000 miles. There were about 100,000 communists who fled. They had to cross 18 mountains, 24 rivers and were chased by chinese troops and aircraft. During this trip a leader was anne Mao Zedong.
