aug 4, 1820 - Industrialization
Description:
Industrialization: means to build wartime resources and pay for war through exports Britain built factories and canals, manufactured and patented new industrial techniques, achieved a breakthrough in fuel sources for energy and traded extensively along its own coasts and with Ireland, Europe and the wider world. Industrialization meant population explosion as the population nearly doubled in the 1720s and continued up until 1780s. However, it went both ways. The population explosion also fed industrialization because the workforce was more substantial than it had ever been in Britain’s history. This led to changing social norms including younger marriages with more children per family. Though industrialization brought disruption to communities, pollution, booms and slumps and unequal gains, it led in the long term to a better standard of living for most workers. The growing industrial nation and growing population coupled together allowed Britain to build up its military power through more human resources and more ships.
