jan 1, 1968 - Democratic National Convention

Description:

The Democratic National Convention was held in Chicago to decide the Democratic candidate for the election of 1968. The convention was met with massive protests of the Vietnam War in support of McCarthy (not that McCarthy), a North Carolina anti-war senator. The protests were met by resistance from the mayor of Chicago, who stated that he would keep the peace no matter what. The protests resulted in Hubert Humphrey getting the nomination because the protests, mostly consisting of people under 21 (couldn't vote), scared the older people (who could vote) to withdraw support from McCarthy.
