Emperor Hirohito was born in Tokyo, Aoyama Palace, 1901, during the reign of his grandfather. After he was 70 days old, Hirohito was given to former vice-admiral Count Kawamura Sumiyoshi to be raised. Hirohito had to return to the palace after three years, however, due to the death of Kawamura. Later, in 1912, Hirohito’s grandfather and emperor died. His father took the throne and Hirohito was given several ranks in the military. In 1926, his father passed away and the throne was given to Hirohito.
