Description:
The American Well and Prospecting Company found this oil accidentally. They were actually searching for a new water source for the city of Corsicana. Between 1896 and 1993, the field produced almost 44 million barrels of oil. From 1900 through 1909 the gas from the early field provided fuel for industrial and personal uses in Corsicana as well as many other Texan cities.Added to timeline:
