Al-Karaji is considered by many to be the first person to completely free algebra from geometrical operations and to replace them with the arithmetical type of operations at the core of algebra today. His school of algebra flourishes for several hundreds of years. One of his books contains the first known proofs by mathematical induction, in which he details proofs of the binomial theorem, a major factor in the development of numerical analysis,Pascal's triangle, and the sum of integral cubes. He is the first to introduce the theory of algebraic calculus.
