Description:

Before this law, also called the "Constitution of Terror" later, the Committee of Public safety could not do whatever they wanted, they still had to ask the National Convention for most decisions and actions. However, Law 14 Frimaire gave the Committee de facto executive power, meaning that they could now do what they wanted when they wanted to. Many of the members of the Committee used this to silence any opposition towards them, or even to get rid of their personal enemies.
