Description:

Lead by Fidel Castro, Cuban revolutionaries carried out an attack on the Moncada barracks which was quickly put down by the government of Cuba.
'The movement' was a communist group which aimed to overthrow Batista's corrupt regime. Having taken power in 1933, many were unhappy with the Batista regime due to its lack of freedom and how it made lots of money off american investment while its people suffered and the regime over time became more and more violent.
