Description:

After​ ​an​ ​earlier​ ​French​ ​failure,​ ​the​ ​United​ ​States​ ​built
the​ ​the​ ​canal​ ​that​ ​traverses​ ​the​ ​isthmus​ ​of​ ​Panama.​ ​ ​In
order​ ​to​ ​do​ ​so,​ ​the​ ​U.S.​ ​supported​ ​Panamanian​ ​rebels
in​ ​their​ ​bid​ ​to​ ​be​ ​free​ ​of​ ​Columbia.​ ​ ​Upon​ ​their​ ​success,
the​ ​Panamanian​ ​government​ ​allowed​ ​the​ ​U.S.​ ​to​ ​build
and​ ​control​ ​the​ ​canal.
