sep 12, 1931 - Japan Invades Manchuria
Description:
The Japanese invasion of Manchuria marks the beginning of Japan's territorial expansion in East Asia. This expansion would lead to the slaughter of million of Chinese civilians and soldiers, as well as the collapse of the Chinese Nationalist government. The conflict was the first major test for the Kellog-Briand Pact, which was seen to be ineffective at stopping conflict, as there was no way to punish Japan for its act of aggression, even though they were one of the countries who had signed the treaty.
