aug 1, 1939 - Nazi Soviet Pact Signed
Description:
The Nazi Soviet pact was a written agreement between Adolf Hitler of Germany and Joseph Stalin of Soviet Russia, assuring each other of non-aggression. In the agreement, there was also secret sections discussing a division of territories previously belonging to Russia, such as Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and Finland. This move by Hitler allowed him to focus his territorial ambitions in the start of the war to the West, though he later broke the treaty and invaded Russia in 1941.
