Description:
The invasion of Ethiopia was an act of social imperialism, in an effort to reverse the affects of the Great Depression that had badly damaged Mussolini's prestige. He needed a foreign war to distract public opinion. The war was fought between the armed forces of the Kingdom of Italy and those of the Ethiopian Empire. Ethiopia was defeated, annexed and subjected to military occupation. The Ethiopian Empire became a part of the Italian colony of Italian East Africa.
