jan 10, 480 BC - Classical Greek Sculpture
Description:
480-323 B.C.
Classical sculpture saw technical skill and naturalism increase, and sculptures used contrapposto (twisting of the body) to create more realism. They also depicted real people as opposed to votive/mythological statues. Sculpture was used in building decoration and funerary monuments, and new techniques were developed for metal casting.
