Description:

First founded in 563 AD, was sacked by Vikings and destroyed in 841 AD. The Romanesque church was destroyed again by fire in 1248. In 1318 under the direction of the abbot Jean Roussel, reconstruction of was done in Gothic style. The Hundred Years’ War slowed progress down significantly, the church was completed in 1537 AD, nearly 1000 years after it was first founded.
