feb 26, 1811 - Simón Bolivar and Latin American Independence (1811?)

Description:

Simón Bolivar was a creole elite that led the movement for Venezuelan independence. He took up arms against Spanish rule in 1811, and after being exiled twice, assembled an army that crushed the unprepared Spanish one. His overall goal was to weld the states of South America into something like the United States, as it worked out for us.
