jan 1, 1900 - Boxer Rebellion
Description:
The emperor of China wanted to get rid of foreigners by modernizing China. He was imprisoned, and the empress took over. The Boxers were the officials encouraging the anti-foreigner movements. They were the ones rebelling against the typical life in China. They fought to make things more traditional, and not modern. They were originally called “Society of the Fists of Righteous Harmony.” It translated to the Boxers, because it included the word “fists.” The empress secretly encouraged the Boxers to "take care of" foreigners. The lost when the USA, German, Britain, Japan, and France army beat the Boxers.
