apr 3, 1861 - South Carolina Secedes
Description:
South Carolina was the first state to secede from the Union out of all 11 states that did. Shortly after Abraham Lincoln became the 16th president South Carolina voted to secede. They left the union because they felt that their way of life was threatened by his election and that they would no longer get to live life the way that they are so accustomed to, which is with slaves.
