The court of men would pass verdict at the dawn of distress that only Sten was close enough to the late King to know well his way of rule and was thus, in light of the situation whereas no heir may have seized the crown, the only individual suitable enough to succeed the monarch.

So Sten dons the crown of the Concordance, but he, however, is not recognized by his people immediately, for the death of the last dryad affected the folk a great deal, enough to plunge the kingdom into a state of great distress and mourning.
