Description:

A clan that exercised great control over Harun al-Rashid. Through generations after conversion to Islam in the Umayyad days, the Barmakids amassed power and eventually found themselves rivaling the caliph. Out of their two sons, Jafar marries the sister of Harun al-Rashid on the condition that they won't have sex. Abbasa, Harun's sister and Jafar's wife, tricks him into having sex with her while he is drunk, and he is then executed, with the rest of his family jailed, likely to end their hold of power.
