Description:
After the local governor of Bengal attacked and imprisoned British merchants, Britain was angered enough to support a British takeover of India. On the 3 February 1757, Robert Clive attacked the now Indian controlled fort and the Indians surrendered control of Calcutta on 9 February. Eventual British control was in part due to Aurangzebs allowing of English merchant settlements in Bengal.
