may 12, 1973 - Escan Incident

Description:

The 1973 Escan Incident, known also as the "1973 Battle of Escan", was a clash of a not yet seen scale between the militant wing of the Greater Union Socialists (GUS), a self-proclaimed group of communists, and the Armed Forces of Ascolla-East Ternev, which ended in thousands of protestors dead in the streets of Escan. In response to this incident, partially in fear of other uprisings by the GUS, but most likely more of a power grab by the Alliance for a Secure Union (ASU, now called Traditionalists), freedom of assembly was suspended until 1977, and all parties with a more socialist leaning were banned until the general elections of 1994, where the ASU lost its hold on power.
