dec 7, 1941 - Japanese bombing at Pearl Harbor brought the U.S. into WWII
Description:
On December 7, 1941 the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor which brought the U.S. into WWII. The Japanese wanted to control the Philippines because it was in the middle of the Pacific Islands being a strategic location to control all of Asia later on. However, the U.S. controlled the Philippines, so the Japanese launched a strike of the U.S. naval base in Hawaii. The attack on Pearl harbor was significant because it was the first attack on the U.S. by a foreign power which propelled the U.S. to join the war. The attack was also significant because the American people did not want to be involved in another war, but the Japanese gave them no choice and led to the war between the two countries as part of WWII.
