Description:
Mostly a race between Lincoln and Douglas. Lincoln is seen by the south as trying to remove all slavery, while he was really only trying to limit the spread. Lincoln won the overall popular and the most electoral votes, but by the time he was inaugurated, seven southern states had already seceded.
