Description:
Democritus, Leucippus, and Empedolces were all involved with the earliest theories of the atom. Democritus theorized that an atom is specific to the material it is composed of, they all have a different shape and size, and that they are in constant motion. Leucippus added on the the constant motion by theorizing that when atoms collide, they either gain or lose energy. Empedolces theorized that there are 4 elements; earth, air, fire, and water.
